Singer gearing up for marathon challenge

EADT today, August 2010

SUFFOLK singing sensation Laura Wright is swapping the recording studio for the running track as she prepares for the challenge of a lifetime.

The former Framlingham College student, who is part of classical girl group All Angels, is taking part in the Venice Marathon later this year. She will be raising money for a charity dedicated to protecting the historic Italian city. Venice in Peril is commmitted to ensuring the sustainability of the settlement.

Laura, who is hoping to raise around £1,000 for the cause, said: 'I wanted to be involved because Venice has been home to so many great composers-whether permanently or visiting'. To kickstart the fundraising, Laura will be performing an evening of Venetian music with a raffle in the first week of October.

Full details are yet to be announced, but it will be taking place at the Harmonic Club in Dover Street, Mayfair, London. To sponsor Laura for the marathon, which is happening on October 24, visit www.justgiving.com/laurawrightmarathon
