Venice Simplon-Orient-Express
www.orient-express.com
Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a proud supporter of Venice in Peril and the work the charity does to help preserve the beautiful city of Venice. This legendary train travels to and from Venice from March to November each year bringing people from all nationalities and walks of life to see this fascinating city and enjoy its delights.
As far back as the early 20th century when Society was first discovering the richness of Venice, the Orient-Express was deemed the only way to arrive. Today the distinctive blue and gold Wagons-Lits carriages still trace their way across Europe from London and Paris to re-create this golden age of travel. This strong connection encouraged VSOE to look at how it could build its relationship with Venice In Peril and offer long term support to the charity. Since 2005 Orient-Express has raised in excess of £60,000 towards various restoration projects, including work on an 18th Century screen that is housed in the City's Oriental Museum.

Pizza Express
www.pizzaexpress.com
The founder of Pizza Express, Peter Boizot, initiated this longstanding partnership with Venice in Peril in 1975 when he heard about the extensive work the charity was doing to contribute to the restoration of the heritage of Venice following the floods in 1966. His support began with the invention of a specialist Venetian pizza, based on a medieval recipe, which he named 'Pizza Veneziana' and is sold throughout this famous restaurant chain. To this day a percentage of each Pizza Veneziana sold is donated to Venice in Peril. After 34 years this initiative has raised nearly £2 million. Pizza Express remains a major contributing benefactor to Venice in Peril, and the Fund greatly relies on the regularity of the income provided by the partnership. The Chairman and Trustees are hugely grateful to Pizza Express and the Veneziana Fund for maintaining their generous support of the Fund's conservation and research work.
This is probably the longest standing arts and business relationship and has given a small charity a national platform. Venice in Peril could not make the difference it makes without Pizza Express.
